flood studies and stormwater management
Medina has a strong history in flood studies, flood control and stormwater management. Our Founder, Robert Medina, PE, has over 30 years of experience in this service area with various clients including FEMA, USACE, NJDEP, NYSDEC and other Federal, state, county and local agencies. Wassim Y. Nader, PE, Director of Federal Programs, has been advancing Medina’s Federal exposure in Flood Insurance Studies throughout the nation.
FLOOD STUDIES & STORMWATER MANAGEMENT GROUP
In response to the evolving Stormwater Management philosophy, Medina has adopted an aggressive approach to stormwater management design, addressing the issues of recharge and water quality as well as the traditional concern of runoff quantity. This approach includes an emphasis on protecting surface and groundwater resources and replenishing the aquifers. Through the innovative use of Best Management Practices, we seek to provide cleaner surface water and a plentiful water resource for future generations as well as reduce flooding. As part of our flood control and dam evaluation, Medina has undertaken assignments of studying existing dams and determining impacts downstream, as well as providing flood control measures to alleviate flooding in flood prone areas. Medina has been dealing with the New Jersey DEP on preparing study reports, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and construction documents for several dam and flood control projects.
Our Group utilizes all of the established modeling methods, including HEC-1, HEC-2, HEC-RAS, TR-55, HEC-GeoRAS, GIS, Geospatial Analysis, HEC-HMS, Regression Analysis and HEC-RAS / DEM Modeling, as applicable to each individual situation.
