Medina Consultants Wins ACEC Diamond Award |
Medina Consultants, an engineering and land surveying firm headquartered in Hackettstown, NJ, recently
received a Diamond Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC, NY) for its
efforts on the Second Avenue Subway project in New York City. The Diamond Award is the most
prestigious award a firm can receive from ACEC. Representatives from Medina attended the
awards gala on April 2, 2005 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.
The Second Avenue Subway Project is New York City's first new
subway in nearly fifteen years. It would relieve massive congestion on the
most over-crowded subway route in the nation – the 4, 5 and 6
IRT trains on Manhattan's East Side. As part of the DMJM+Harris/Arup project
design team, Medina
Consultants, along with "sister company", Robinson Aerial Surveys, used a combination
of innovative technology and surveying techniques to obtain accurate existing
conditions feature surveys and base
mapping for the entire 8+ mile project corridor. This significant effort was
accomplished through the use of integrated surveying and mapping technologies
including Global Positioning System (GPS), Digital
Leveling, Digital Robotic Total Stations, Low-Altitude Aerial Mapping, High Definition
Scanning and
